Congratulations to former CalPoets student Willow O’Feral — published in the 1999 Mendocino County and 1999 Statewide Anthology — who is now a film director, producer, and cinematographer. Her most recent film, SISTERS RISING, a feature-length documentary, will world premiere at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in February 2020, where it has already been nominated for the Big Sky Award!

SISTERS RISING is the story of six Native American women fighting to restore personal and tribal sovereignty. The film is an urgent call to action, a gorgeous portrait of powerful women acting in solidarity, and a demand for tribal sovereignty and self-determination as the necessary step towards ending violence against Native women.
