Celebrating Youth Voices - Not Too Young For Wonder

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

Now that complimentary copies are in the hands of the contributing youth poets, we are very pleased to announce the publication of our 2023, California Poets in the Schools’ state anthology of youth poetry - NOT TOO YOUNG FOR WONDER.

When we publish our students in a professional anthology, we witness an incredible boost in confidence, pride, and connection to the writing process. Students create tangible memories that can be shared with future generations, and families celebrate - big time. Previously unpublished students build bridges with audiences who hear these student voices for the first time.

We prioritize publishing annual anthologies, and distributing them to participants free of cost, because the positive impact for youth poets is extraordinary. Your gift makes it happen. Please give generously this year, as we do face a deficit in 2024.  We must raise $80,000 by December 31st in order to meet our budget.

Warmest of thanks to all who’ve donated so far.

This work matters. Your support is critical to advancing our vision - inspiring youth in every California county to discover, cultivate and amplify their own creative voices through reading, analyzing, writing, performing and publishing poetry.

Copies can be purchased from Better World Books, Amazon, and many other online retailers. If you wish to purchase 10 or more books, you are welcome to order through California Poets in the Schools for a bulk discount. My Voice

Iris Jones

I am not afraid to use

my voice. You have never

heard it so let me tell you

it is soft, but non-stopping.

It is not used to the sound of quietness.

It sounds like the trees

rustling in the wind.

My voice is like the

creek rippling. It is like

the gentle rain falling

from the sky.

My voice is the song of a bird.
